History : from Supply Chain Scanner to Equazion

Equazion was formerly branded as Supply Chain Scanner. In 2001 already, S&V Management Consultants started developing its Supply Chain Scanner. This innovation aimed to quickly identify supply chain performance improvement opportunities, and to monitor progress. Over the years we experienced that much of the supply chain optimization potential comes from aligning business policies ('do the right thing') with the company strategy. And so we have been expanding and enhancing the Supply Chain Scanner tool and methodology to an extent that we believe Equazion is a better name to cover what we have created in the past.

Our Supply Chain Scanner has always started from the credo “Supply Chain is the business model”. For this good reason we have been emphasizing the 360° perspective. Because true supply chain optimization is a business decision and not a matter of technical - mathematical wizards. Inventory is affected by product portfolio complexity… a marketing and sales responsibility. But inventory is influenced equally by operations batchsize decisions. Inventory as an important part of working capital drives the Return on Net Assets (RONA)… a financial concern.

Return on Net Assets (RONA) for its part, is also affected by the cost of the service offering … a sales decision. The only way out is a management discussion from a holistic perspective and with facts replacing emotions. The aim for our tool and our approach is to balance different sides of these complex business equations… from a broader perspective.

For this reason we believe that Equazion is the right name for what we have created in the past and will be enhancing for the future: the ultimate solution for making business decisions in manufacturing and distribution enterprises.
